Day 6, May 27th
A Sad Day in Paradise
I don't want to leave our villa. It's so beautiful. We met some wonderful people at Windjammer Landing too. Hope to see them again some day.
Dragonfly
I made mom get an early start so we could eat breakfast and lunch before our flight. (Same schedule as my work schedule.) We had the buffet and I mostly ate croissants with raspberry jam. Piling on those carbs! I also had to have my Cocoa Tea one last time. (I did buy a cocoa stick at the market to try making my own.)
Soaking it All In
Niles drove us back to the room and said he'd pick us up at 10:30. I left mom reading in the villa (can you believe she's on her second book?). I walked down and wanted to take some more pictures. I was walking the beach when I ran into Cindy again. We chatted a little bit and then I went down to the rocks at the end of the beach. Jimene, the female Security Guard walked down with me to take a picture of the crabs. She's very sweet. I walked back up to the villa, so now I smell nice for the long journey home.
Shuttle
Niles promptly picked us up at 10:30. He has worked at Windjammer for 7 years.

Jammers
We had one last Scorpion at Jammers. We ordered lunch to be ready at 11:00 so we could leave at 11:30. We shared pasta and salad. All of a sudden, a strong breeze came through and the salad literally blew off the dish and gave mom a shower of Balsamic dressing. She had sprinkles all over her white shirt and we couldn't stop laughing (even though she had nothing to change into).
We shoveled the food in, ran to the washroom, and collected our luggage from Linden, the lobby Security man. I thought it was unusual that Fabian wasn't there yet, but then Linden told us this other white van was ours. I guess Fabian was running late, so he sent Paul instead. Paul was very mellow and a good driver for our long drive back to Hewanorra airport. He even gave us a tour of the other side of the island on the way there. That's the Atlantic side and he pointed out where George Foreman's house is.
Hewanorra Airport
The Delta line was quite long, but we breezed through the American line. Once you show your Passport, you enter an automatic door and immediately get the customs guy. There was no line, but if there was, it could be quite hectic as there would be nowhere to stand.
We also breezed through the Security line. The terminals were all in one small area (sort of like the Punta Cana airport). They had a few little shops, but we didn't buy anything.
All in all, we only spent $109 in souvenirs between the two of us. That's a record! There really wasn't a lot of shopping in St. Lucia, but that's okay.
Flights
Our flight to Miami was uneventful.
When we got to Miami, we had to pick up our luggage and re-check it. We only had a short time inbetween flights.
Concourse D - Miami
Warning: If you have a sensitive stomach, do not read! We bought individual pizzas to eat before our departure. Mom was talking on her cell and casually yelled to me that there was a cockroach crawling on the floor. The thing was gigantic and ran very fast. I was so freaked out, so I sat with my feet up in the air and my carry on bag on my legs. Then, the man across from me pointed out that another roach ran out from under my feet. If my feet would have been on the floor, it would have ran across them. Gross! Mom went to the washroom never to return! I was watching her bags when another man yelled that there was a "rat." At first I thought they were pulling my leg because I was freaking out, but he wasn't. It was running into the wall and running towards us. Everyone got up and ran (especially the people with the baby in the stroller). I was stuck there because mom still wasn't back. I was so mad when she returned because everyone left us there. We went over to section 33 and cautiously waited.
I have been to many Third World countries and never have experienced anything so disgusting.
Pilot/Co-Pilot
At this point, I was pretty tired. Our flight from Miami to Chicago is 3 hours. I made mom sit in the middle this time and she insisted that she was "claustrophobic." I ignored her and she was fine.
I started falling asleep when the Flight Attendant began welcoming us and giving us other critical information. She told us that our Pilot was Allen Dick and the Co-Pilot was Donald Bozo! Well, the whole plane started laughing. You know you're in good hands when you are flying with Dick & Bozo! I guess we were all a little over tired.
Dani
Dani met us at the airport and drove us home. We threw our luggage in the garage to make sure there were no roaches.
I was in bed by 12:45 a.m. to get ready for my 5:00 a.m. shower! Whew!

THE END
Day 5, May 26th
Dragonfly
Our usual breakfast spot.
Spa
I had a 9:00 a.m. appointment at the Spa for a foot/hand massage. It was very relaxing. There is NOTHING better than a foot massage. The lady told me that I "suffered from dry skin!" LOL I guess I better have massages more often.
I just need a Beach Butler to fan me, put on my suntan lotion, and give me a foot massage! LOL You would think I could find one in the Caribbean!
Sun?
Well, since we got a bit burnt yesterday, we didn't think that laying out in the sun would be the best option. I found a very nice palapa on the pier and read my book. Mom wouldn't stay out, so she went to the room. I liked being where the action was.
Lunch
Mom met me for lunch and we went to Ember's (the place where you can put your feet in the sand). The food is casual - pizza, fries, shrimp, and hamburgers. The couple behind us were from New Jersey. We started talking to them and it turns out that they have 2 Bearded Collies (just like mom's)! More crazy people! They were very nice and we chatted for a long time. Their names were Larry and Cindy. They had a Time Share at Windjammer Landing.
While we were talking, Levi, the water taxi guy pulled up and spotted me. That's when Larry told me that he heard our lovely conversation the other day. I was trying to avoid him like the plague!
Papa Don's
We liked Papa Don's so much, we made a second reservation there. The kitty ate half of my steak. The cats are so small, they look like kittens, but the waiter told us that particular cat had a few litters already.
Dragonfly
Since we don't like the dessert options at Papa Don's, we decided to go to Dragonfly for dessert. Mom had the warm chocolate cake and I had the warm pineapple cake.
Entertainment
They had music at Jammer's and we sat and listened a little by the pool. It suddenly started raining, so we ran to the lobby and sat till it stopped. Mom wanted to go back to the room to pack (it takes her a long time). We Left Too Soon I heard some good songs from the balcony and wish we stayed a little longer. Tie a Yellow Ribbon by Tony Orlando isn't exactly Caribbean, but I liked it.

Day 4, May 25th
Breakfast at Dragonfly
There's no other alternative, but that's fine with us. We always get a seat with a view. Today I had the over sized French Toast. They made me some Cocoa Tea, which is similar to my Chai. It's cocoa melted with hot water and milk and spices. Apparently, not many people drank it, but they would make it especially for me. We had very nice waitresses for breakfast.....Gloria, Chantal, and the Hostess, Patricia.
Sun
We just relaxed and enjoyed the pool/beach today.
We put our stuff at the kiddie pool. We were the only ones there. Mom read her book and I walked the beach for exercise and sun. Up and down and up and down. It's not a huge beach, but it's pretty private. There's only one other resort across the way and those people never ventured over because you have to walk over some rocks. I did venture over there, however. I heard some nice Caribbean music and went to check it out.
Beach Bar
They have the cutest beach bar that is never crowded. I got a drink and walked with it. Pool Went to check on mom. I tried to lay out, but I felt like a rotisserie chicken, so I had to go in the pool. A little girl named Kaitlyn came and was swimming around. She asked me to hold her raft while she did some tricks. When I way laying on top of the waterfall, she came over and asked me if I was "34!" LOL I think she was inquiring for her father who was sitting at one of the tables.
"Woof"
When I was walking the beach, I was approached by the water taxi driver named Levi, who has long dreadlocks. He was bugging me to go on an excursion that involved swimming in the ocean. I told him that I don't go in the ocean. He kept asking me if he could take me to a beach. I was trying to get away as everyone was watching us too. How embarrassing! He told me that he really wanted to take me to the beach because I was "woof" it! I started laughing and said, "woof it!....like a dog!" He meant worth it, but I guess he wasn't well educated. I finally made my escape, but every time I walked by, he would whistle or say something, so I finally went back to the kiddie pool.
Kiddie Pool
There was a large family playing Scrabble and the kids were in the pool. Mom went back to the room because she was getting burned, but I hung out on the waterfall a little longer. Then, I made my long walk up to our villa. Trust me, that's a work out!
Pure Relaxation
We relaxed before getting ready for dinner. Our villa is just so beautiful.
Shuttle Drivers
These drivers were amazing. They not only drove forward, but they also drover backwards....quickly, down the windy roads leading to the villas. (In the U.S. we are lucky if people can drive forward!)
Niles was one of the drivers that we had frequently. He listened to a lot of Christian radio. The majority of people in St. Lucia are Catholic.
Upper Deck
Tonight we ate at the Upper Deck, which is located right on the waterfront. The view and breeze were very nice.
I ordered a Chicken Terriyaki salad as my appetizer, and I felt like my mom when it arrived. It was not as described. It said it was on a bed of greens with Papaya dressing, but instead it looked like seared chicken standing around a blob of gelled potato salad.
The main course and the dessert totally made up for it! The Rib Eye was amazing and so tasty with whole peppercorns. I had Coconut Crème brûlée for dessert.

Day 3, May 24th
Breakfast at Dragonfly
Dragonfly is the only restaurant open for breakfast. You can either order off the menu or have the buffet. Today we ordered off of the menu. The waffles with bananas and whipped cream were yummy. I liked to share my food with the kitties and the birds. I did drop my knife right on the kitty accidentally. It didn't stop it from coming back though.
Tour of Villas
At 9:00 a.m. I had a tour of the villas with Ron, one of the Ambassadors. He showed me about 4 different styles of villas. Every single one is unique, but they all have amazing views. Mom waited in the villa for me to return.
Rodney Bay
We felt rested enough to go to Rodney Bay. We were warned that it wasn't too exciting and I would have to agree.
The Small
That's what the locals call the mall in Rodney Bay because there are not a lot of stores. They had a couple of cute clothing stores, but prices were expensive.
Most of the locals order their clothes online and have them shipped or they have friends in the U.S. buy them and send them to them.
Marina
There's a small marina in Rodney Bay that has an art gallery, few shops, restaurants, and an ice cream place. We were probably there for 5 minutes tops.
Lunch
We came back and had lunch at Jammer's. It's so nice to sit by the ocean to enjoy your lunch. It would get a bit breezy though. Mom went back up to the room after lunch and I stayed out.
Papa Don's
We went to dinner at the Italian restaurant and of course, another kitty saw that I had "sucker" written on my forehead. It was so smart, that it hid in the corner where the Hostess couldn't see it. I fed it all of the chicken from my Heart Attack on a dish. Everything I was going to order had Pesto in it and I'm allergic, so I just thought I would clog my arteries instead. Papa Don's was excellent. I didn't care for the desserts options, but that's a good thing!
Of course, just as I started eating, a woman next to me started to smoke. They were very rude in general. the woman corrected the waitress and told her that it was "well" and not "good."
Gas Attack
My plan of attack for rude smokers is going to be letting them rip while they are eating! I think it's only fair.
Jammer's
We went down to Jammer's afterwards to listen to some music. I discovered my new favorite drink, which is the Scorpion. It's non-alcoholic, but it's so good. I had an alcoholic drink the night before and it gave me a migraine. I swear that I really must be allergic.

Scrabble
We discovered that Windjammer Landing has games at the Concierge's desk. We borrowed Scrabble, which was a really cool one. We played on our balcony and listed to the band play. Mom uses tons of little words and blocks us in all of the time. She blames it on her bad spelling, but I just think she's being tricky.

Day 2, May 23rd
This Place is for the Birds
Literally, the birds woke me up with their beautiful singing. There must be hundreds of types.
I couldn't wait to get up and see this place in the daytime.
Visitor
We had a visitor....a kitty! He would just come in and lay down on the floor. I was just afraid that he would pee, but otherwise I didn't mind.
Laptop
Trip Advisor members are con artists. I should know better! Someone warned against bringing laptops because there was nowhere to use it. There is even access in the villas! I am so mad that I didn't bring mine. I have never typed on a keyboard like this before. (I will take a pic.)
Dragonfly
We had the buffet at Dragonfly because mom did not want to get up and get ready and Fabian was picking us up at 9:00 a.m. for our tour.
Island Tour
Fabian drove fine, so I didn't have to worry. We saw so much...the waterfall, the market in Castries, the sulphur springs, the Pitons (which are a World Heritage site), the drive through volcano, the banana plantation, Canaries fishing village, and how they make kasava bread. I tried Banana Ketchup and even bought some! I hate Ketchup, but it is not even similar (it's yellow, actually). I think it would be great on Sweet Potato Fries!
We stopped and had lunch at Dasheene restaurant at Ladera resort, which has one of the top restaurants in the Caribbean. I had a fried Feta salad with Papaya dressing and mom had....what else!.....a hamburger! She didn't like it either! Surprise!
Return
I rested on our balcony and mom took a nap inside.
Dinner
The kitty came to visit just as I finished getting ready for dinner. It really makes itself at home.
I walked to the lobby, which was a challenge in the dark, for the first time, without glasses, down sloping sidewalks. I finally took off my shoes.
I used the Internet while mom was getting ready and met a nice couple from Toronto.
Embers
Embers restaurant put out a Caribbean buffet on the beach. It was nice to dine with my feet in the sand. It reminded me of Moomba Beach in Aruba. They had ribs, lamb kabobs, steak, and my favorite was the au gratin cauliflower/broccoli, which I haven't had in a long time.
The couple from Toronto sat next to us.
We were too tired to make it to the Gros Islet street party. Maybe next time!

Day 1, May 22nd
Danie
He arrived early to pick us up, which was fine. Nice, clean van. I will use him again in the future.
Luggage
My luggage only weighed 27 lbs. while mom's weighed 46 lbs. (that doesn't leave her much room for souvenirs). I told her to pack lightly because we had to go on the prop plane. She can never do it!
Flight to San Juan
Our first plane had trouble landing...lost the hydraulic system, so we switched gates and they got us a new one in time. It had to be towed in, so there was no way it was going to fly again.
Sharks?
The girl sitting next to me on the airplane asked me if it's okay for girls to go swimming if they have their periods. I wasn't quite sure I heard her the first time! LOL I attract the strangest people!
Mr. Mom
The man across the aisle from us had a set of 18 month old twins - one boy and one girl. We were all amazed that he was traveling alone with them. It's quite funny that I always get seated near the kids/babies. He did it all.....fed them, changed them, dressed them. Pretty impressive. He didn't have a wedding ring on, so we were trying to figure out what his story was. Maybe he was bringing them to visit their Grandparents.
San Juan Airport
Mom gambled & I shopped...nothing new! I actually bought some things already (souvenirs for Sam and Sydney) and a watch and some bangle bracelets for myself.
San Juan - St. Lucia
From San Juan to St. Lucia our flight was delayed due to puring rain in Puerto Rico. It ended up being an hour by the time we boarded and the other Flight Attendant came from another plane.
The prop plane was not fun, but we were only 15 minutes from our resort.
The Million Dollar Bagel
Mom refuses to bring food to eat at the airport or in flight. Every time, she buys expensive airport food. Before we got to our terminal, she bought a bagel, hot chocolate AND a diet Coke! When I stopped for a Starbucks, she sat down to eat, but when I returned, I saw her standing up and I immediately knew something was wrong. She wanted to walk all the way back because they didn't toast her bagel enough. Instead she went and bought a McDonald's Egg McMuffin too....hence, the name of my title: "The Million Dollar Bagel!"
Fabian
Fabian was waiting for us when we arrived. He had a nice van also and drove safely.
Corpus Christi
It was a holiday in St. Lucia. When we arrived, families were still swimming and barbecuing.
Hotel Arrival
I had a Rum Punch that went straight to my head. Everyone was very friendly (Barrington, Julianna, & Rick). We went to Jammer's and ate before going to our villa (& it truly is a villa!).
Jammer's is right on the ocean. It's casual and beautiful. I had Bruschetta and a Caesar Salad with chicken.
Villa 39B
Stunning! We arrived late, so saw it for the first time in the evening. It's a 1 bedroom with kitchen, living room, huge balcony AND s private plunge pool. It has terra cotta floors and wood beamed ceilings and is simply decorated. I'm ready to move in!
If anyone has ever seen The Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan, that's what St. Lucia reminds me of. Hope to see him here! In the evening, it's very dark and all you see are the twinkling lights all up in the mountains. It's very breathtaking!
It's HOT
The one drawback is that the open air villas are very hot. AC only in the bedroom. We shut the door and prayed that it would cool off. There's netting over the bed, but it's not so romantic when you're sleeping with your mom who gets up 3 times in the middle of the night and knocks it down.
